You're Teaching my Child What?

Dr. Miriam Grossman worked for 12 years as a psychiatrist at UCLA.  This experience led her to this book project among others. She delved deeper into the field of sex education, looking at exactly what kids are taught, and at the history of sex education in the United States. She went online and explored the websites, books, pamphlets and videos created for kids and young adults. What she discovered was deeply disturbing.

A healthy approach to sex and gender

Our international organisation includes professionals, trans people, detransitioners, and parent groups who advocate a non-medicalised approach to gender diversity.

We believe that there are many routes that may lead to the development of distress over an individual’s gender. Equally, there are just as many routes out of such distress. That’s why we would like to see a wider range of treatment options and more evidence-based approaches to gender-questioning children and young people.

This American Enterprise Institute describes how Social, and Emotional Learning" was fundamentally redefined for the purpose of education to include morally value-laden "competencies" including “identity,” defined now through the lens of “intersectionality,” “agency,” defined as “resistance” and “transformative/justice-oriented” citizenship by means of “culturally relevant/responsive” pedagogy.

Fair for All exposes race-essentialist ideas of "Culturally Responsive Education" that teach students to view the world through an identitarian and reductive lens in order to "critique cultural norms, values, mores, and institutions that produce and maintain social iniquities.” "Critical Pedagogy," a political ideology, exploits students as agents of social change by stereotyping the individual by their "group identities."

Emily Jones, co-founder of Family Tech University talks about the need to go beyond external filters and controls with our children's electronics and, instead, help them develop internal filters.

Enabling young people, by providing them with powerful information, skills practice, and the opportunity to develop their OWN heartfelt opinions, so that they choose to be wise, of their own free will. Parents can nurture the internal filter™ of their children, preparing them to make wise choices with technology when they walk out the door... away from digital filters and parental monitoring.
